"Posh Boutique is back.
If you cared about what you wore in 2004, then you remember the, well, posh women's shop with a real maple runway cutting through the middle. It was called Posh Boutique and even had a cool, concrete and steel bar for serving up "Poshtinis" along with its high-end designer fashions. Mother-daughter team Haley and Cris Greene ran the store, which even snagged a mention in Lucky magazine in its first year of business.
Well, four years after it opened, Haley had added Ochoa to the end of her name and had a baby girl, and the store closed. Fast-forward another four years and that baby girl's turned into a precocious preschooler, and her mom was itching to have another go at a store.
And this latest incarnation isn't a budget-buster.Haley Greene Ochoa opened up Posh Boutique in the same space as the original Posh, but this store - while still featuring high-end designer lines - is a resale consignment shop. "It's a chance for people in Tucson to buy really nice things without breaking the bank," says Greene Ochoa, who opened Monday.
This is a place for women who like resale but aren't into the thrill of the hunt.
"I don't like to dig," says Greene Ochoa, who loves resale shops. "I like to walk in and see and know it's high-end, designer."
Merchandise, which ranges from clothing to shoes and bags, is authenticated, and Greene Ochoa says she's been floored by the brand-new, never-been-out-of-the-box goodies like Jimmy Choo slingbacks, Louis Vuitton and Gucci bags, even Diane von Furstenberg dresses, tags still attached.
Prices range from $9 for a Vince Tank up to $399 for those Jimmy Choos - and even higher than that for a sumptuous Prada leather bag.
Typically in consignment shops, items with tags attached go for half of their retail price. Without tags, it's a third of the original price, Greene Ochoa says.
"I'm kind of trying to stick close to that, to be competitive and reasonable," she says.
For now, Greene Ochoa is testing the resale waters and plans a limited run until April 1. But she's hoping Posh Boutique, Part Deux, will prove so popular that it will have a longer engagement."
